Lunar Eclipse-Full Moon. Perilous or not?

Dear Reader: Welcome to another publication of my Witch’s Gazette.  Interesting things are happening up above, with the celestial bodies. We have a charged Full Moon coming up Monday, August 7th.

Not only a Full Moon but, a Lunar Eclipse and the Moon in aspect to that rebellious sign: Aquarius! Already it sounds like a good drama worth watching, and we might think “Its gonna be so good!” So get your popcorn ready, and together lets navigate the landscape of the heavens..

A Lunar eclipse occurs during a Full Moon. Spiritually speaking, the Moon represents the feminine, nurturing, changeable, moody. She is the archetype Mother. The one in control of emotions,

An eclipse is charged with the energy happening at the moment of the eclipse. The Lunar eclipse brings changes, so it is wise to take advantage, and create any changes we want to make manifest. It is a moment of shadows and light. Illuminating the unseen and creating a bit of havoc, making us feel as if we are out of control. But wait! this is just the beginning!

A Full Moon, illuminates that which, has been in the shadows. On a personal level, it brings “illumination” if what we are seeking are answers to a particular situation for example. On other levels, it might bring out to the light, aspects of our lives or others of those close to us, which we might need to take a look at and decide if what we see is something we are happy with, or not.

What comes to the surface, can run the complete gamut of deep-rooted emotions, and hidden motives. It can also bring insights, needed to move forward, and show us where the best opportunities lay in the way ahead. With the Lunar eclipse combined with Full Moon, the situation is heightened. Choices you did not have before will appear as if from nowhere (surprises). Because of the charged celestial happening, things move faster, maybe forcing us to make decisions without much thought for the consequence. But, the very nature of a Lunar eclipse, urges one, to think twice before making a decision. Dig deeper into your own motives, and re-think the best course of action. Doing this, will help to change personal plans with a better outcome.

The plot thickens! We have not touched upon Aquarius yet.  This astro sign, is reigned by Uranus (modern ruler) Uranus urges one to express our individuality. Like Aquarius, this planet is intellectual and not too emotional. Some of the things Uranus rules are independence, upheaval, revolution and changes to the “status quo.” It also rules the unexpected in the form of surprises.  Although computers are said to be the domain of Uranus, remember that Mercury (communication) also rules technology.  Aquarius under this planet, is rebellious. Likes to shake things up, and turn around what is not needed to make space for something better, something more innovative. Aquarius looks to the future and ways to help humanity. It also likes to break boundaries and bring change.

Just a note here, Uranus, which went retrograde on August 2nd. might soften all these energies brought about by the Lunar eclipse/Full Moon. We might still get computers snafus, or little irritations with any of our technology run favorite devices and places.  Talking about technology, the Uranus retrograde its good to clean up your email inbox and trash files. Also good to let go of all those old pictures and unused files, just hanging needlessly in the recycle bin.

Lets not forget the power of the Full Moon alone, brings fruition to plans we have been working on since the last Full Moon. Magickal work may manifest. We can also utilize this time to reflect on the things we have accomplished and the things we still would like to make a reality.

To recap:

Lunar Eclipse+Full Moon+Aquarius = Changes, surprises, illumination, decisions, thinking twice, grab opportunities. Be ready for the unexpected!

The Lunar eclipse will start at 8:50 a.m. PST and end at 1:50 p.m. PST.

Full Moon: 11:10 a.m. PST

And as a final note,  remember, eclipses happen in pairs, we still have the total Solar eclipse (New Moon) to look forward to, on August 21st. We have not had one in 38 years! That will be interesting..

Above the cloud with its shadow is the star with its light.
Above all things reverence thyself.
– Pythagoras

Leo New Moon- It’s All About You

Dear Reader: Welcome to another post, from the Witch’s Gazette. We have a brand new Moon this weekend, and the spotlight is on one of the most fun-loving, astrological signs… Leo!

New Moon: Sunday, July 23rd

Moon enters Leo: 1:34 a.m.

Moon and Sun conjunction: 2:46 a.m. PST

The Sun is shining on this sign, backing up Leo’s self-esteem and the Moon is there to soothe hurt egos and assure him/her that everyone loves them.

Leo likes to be the center of attention, draws lots of friends around her/him and loves the good things in life.

They are good-natured, passionate, humorous and cheerful.

The element of Leo: Fire

Quality: Fixed

Day: Sunday

Planetary ruler: Sun

The Sun is a masculine planet.  Will, intent, determination and spirit are some of the attributes of this fiery star. One of the principles of the Sun is to push outward, to radiate, to blast. Whatever the Sun is shining on, it draws attention to it. It makes sense that Leo loves the attention when given and likes to “radiate” good vibes and being cheerful most of the time.

Leo people tend to achieve their goals. No matter what and how long it might take them. They believe in themselves and believe as well, that as long they radiate this confidence, all will be all right. Very generous with the one they love, and friends. Loyal to family. Leos are intelligent, many times intellectual.

Leo loves traveling, expensive things,  friends and having fun.

The flip side of Leo is that, they not like it when things are out of their control. They do not like being lied to (but then again, who likes that?) and this even if they have lied themselves. They might see their omission of telling the truth as a necessary sacrifice to have peace. They are stubborn, do not like being ignored and tend to be self-centered.

Don’t forget dear reader,  each and every sign has its flip side. Sort of like the other side of the Moon.

How Leo’s good traits can help in magickal work:

Leo Moon, helps with self-assurance and makes one sort of shine and be ready for the spotlight, if that is what one desires.

For employment and financial matters: Leo’s energy infuses the spiritual work with creativity, optimism. It bestows confidence and the assurance that whatever the goal, it will be well met. It is an excellent sign to work money magick.

In love matters: Helps one to be more passionate. It helps with matters of loyalty and mutual respect in a relationship.

Friendship matters: Leo’s energy helps one to draw friends. Just be careful to weed out the opportunists from the true blue friends.

The best day to conduct Leo’s magick is of course: Sunday.

Optimum colors for spiritual work:  Orange, gold, yellow

When working with this sign, it is also advisable to work protection magick. The same confidence that carries Leo through life, makes them vulnerable. Their love and fondness for the good things in life and how easy money comes to them, allows them to help friends in need. Which in turn makes them easy target from unscrupulous people who might take advantage of their generosity.

Leo’s energy in spell work is powerful, confident, fun. It draws success to spiritual work, as long as we keep a positive outlook. It helps to persevere, and keep working towards the personal goal.

Keywords when working with Leo astrological sign: Going for the gold!

Magick and You

Dear Reader: Welcome back to this, your magickal newsletter.

I have been musing over this next theme. As it is my wont, my mind wanders and I note down what comes to me. Magick, twirls around my thoughts. Like snowflakes falling on a winter day. It is enticing and it leads a dance down the corridors of my mind. I reflect upon the subject and wonder upon such powerful energy.

Although this energy it’s so available for all, it is seldom understood in its entirety. An energy that defies explanation and refuses to be boxed in. It is not after all, a solid thing that can be caught and studied. Analyzed, labeled  and filed away.

It is fast energy. It is light and shadows. Fluent, airy, fiery. It is universal energy that can be garnished if one but believes. Although explained in many books and/or online forums, it is very much expounded upon. Yet the subject, perhaps leaves the reader wanting to know more.

How to explain something not seen, but felt? It’s like the very air we breath. We know it’s there, yet we are not consciously aware of every breath we take. We just do. Knowing that we are alive not wondering how, but just living. Magick is a bit like that. All around us, always present. Pulsating with energy.

The question perhaps should not be about “what magick is” but  how to gather such energy and use it to create a change. Because it is fluid we cannot hold it for long. Thus such energy, has to be collected. Utilized and then let go. This is the only way such energy will fly high into that mysterious place where all happens.

This is why props like candles, incense and quartz etc. for example help one to focus the will. It is the eternal need of us humans, to define something by making it solid, more real. It helps to know we are indeed drawing down, a small amount of such powerful force. A tiny happening in the vast Universe, but one that has momentous importance to us. By gathering this energy, we can work on our intention. Release the energy and cement the belief that we had touched if only for a moment, that eternal essence of the Universe.

Such energy revolves around this planet, expands into the Universe at large. Ever present and ever-growing. The more we believe it is indeed real, the better we are able to connect to it, blend with it. And for just a tiny moment become one.

Magickal Remains

Dear Reader: Happy Earth Day! Welcome back to another post in this your magickal gazette. I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend as well as (and hopefully) nice weather in your part of the world.

Today’s topic dear reader, is one I have been putting off, but I think it is time I post it. Enjoy!

Magickal Remains. What to do after the magick its done, the candles and assorted magickal tools are spent and all that we have left is the “remains” as witness to our spiritual work.

Candles is the first on the list. Some people believe that burying wax would be the appropriate thing to do. Others feel that the wax that was left over from the candle should be kept in place on their altars or chosen place for burning candles until their spiritual work manifests.

The reality of candles used as a conduit of the personal petition,  it’s that once the candle is burnt, the wish has gone into the realm of Goddess/Universal Spirit, taking with it your faith in the outcome. Once there, the work to be done its theirs. (Here I have to add, that magick without physical efforts fizzles out or does not materialize) The manifestation is in process and the physical vessel has done its job, therefore obsolete.  The hardened wax is collected and placed in a brown paper bag. The ones for sandwiches are perfect. (but if you are out of any brown bags, then any small plastic bag is ok if nothing else is available) I do have to add this too: If the work is one for un-hexing, or strong protection, etc, then add a bit of salt to the bag. For added protection. Once you do that, dispose of it in the collective trash bins (if you live in an apartment complex) or the outside trash bin of your home. That is all.

Other magickal paraphernalia, will be disposed of as well. Easier with natural conduits of magick, as for example water, salt. Water and salt will be disposed of, through your kitchen drain or bathroom. Just run some water from the faucet while you dispose of both.

The incense ashes are disposed of in your trash can. If you have used powdered incense burnt on the instant charcoal tables, then make sure that it is all spent and cold before disposing of it. Same for incense cones and incense sticks. All goes into the trash.

If you have a favorite dish for your candles, and like to re-use for all your magickal work, then a good cleaning is called for. Once is cleaned, spray the dish with a bit of your blessing water/blend etc. This helps to cleanse the vibrational level and makes it ready for the next time you need to use it.

Lovely yellow flowers

If you had flowers on your altar that were specially for your work, let them stay until they dry up. Once that happens dispose of them right away. Do not keep a dry petal of leaf. Just throw them out.

Quartz, stones etc. These depending of the work can be kept or disposed of. Some tumbled stones can be disposed of into the earth (garden or potted plants/flowers) if, that is that the work calls for. Some of the stones can be carried with you, in your purse, your pocket, a charm etc. Until you see the work manifested. Then you either keep them or dispose of them. Otherwise, they are cleansed properly, i.e. Placed on a windowsill to be cleansed with sunlight. Or placed in a dish with some salt, so that the salt absorbs whatever energies it has collected. If you have chosen to place them in water to be cleansed, make sure it is practical to do so. Some quartz, cannot be cleansed this way as they dissolve. Research your type of stone and how to cleanse them properly.

Altar cloth. If you have one in particular that is used often, then hand wash (if small enough) or throw in the washer if too big. Add a bit of blessed water together with your laundry detergent. To not only clean in the physical but as well as in the spiritual. You can also, once is dry, prepare by ironing your altar cloth and spray with lavender blessed water or rose-water etc. This way, you infuse your cloth lovely magickal power.

If you use wands, bells, chimes etc. Cleanse these as well. Pass some incense around them and/or spray them as well with your blessed water after each spiritual work.

Altar, or place/space where you conduct magickal work the most in your home. This is the center of your spiritual work. Where it all happens! This has to be cleansed at the least twice per month or if you constantly conduct magickal work, then weekly is best.

Don’t dwell on the fact that you are disposing of items used for magick once you are done with them. Don’t think your wish won’t manifest just because you did not hold on to it, until the magick manifested. As you already know, or should know if you don’t yet. All things that have no further use and left sitting on a place, corner, surface etc. collect all sorts of energies over time. It is best to clean the space and clear the vibes.

Once the connection is made from the physical world we live in to the Universal flow of magic, then the tool has served its purpose. We give thanks to Earth and elements for having played a part in the ritual. Whether formal or informal. We now this is but the beginning, and the work in the physical is barely started as faith is powered by the action/s we take, with the knowledge that what we ask for will manifest in one way or another.

It is important to keep our altar, physical tools and vibrational level in optimum condition. By keeping magickal items in one place, organized and ready for next time we need them, we can concentrate and focus on what is important: Our magickal work.

Keep in mind that the important thing is not to lose yourself in the details. It is energy for magick after all, you are garnishing for your outcome. Go with the flow!

Until I write again,

Working your Magick

Dear reader: Welcome back to another installment of this magickal newsletter.

Through the years, I have come to realize that to many; a Witch (whether woman or man) relays much on physical items to be able (so many think) to materialize the desired outcome. Or that the beginning of learning your spiritual path must be done utilizing an assortment of stones, wands, and what not!

The reality is sort of split between the conceived idea of what a witch does to the reality of what a witch really does. To confine magick to physical items only is to confine oneself to a finite way of doing things. In reality magick is infinite. It is after all the ability to harness universal energies (which are infinite) and create the desired outcome. Tools or no tools.

If what you as a witch like, is to immerse yourself in formal ritual, with the chanting, and the incense, the quartz! etc. then do so, but do so with heart. If you what you love is lighting a solitary candle, concentrating on your personal desire, focusing your will and then letting go and just go about your day. Then, excellent, but do so with conviction.

Whatever your inclination, follow-up on what you have done. If there is something you desire that requires you to chant a certain verse several days in a row. Keep at it. Don’t fall into the trap of complacency. Magick is actual work. Is not just wishing and then thinking things will fall on your lap -although sometimes this might happen I will not deny. But here we are talking about serendipity, or some serious overdue good karma that took years to come crashing your way, or perhaps Goddess, an angel or even a demon is looking out for you….. but I digress – most of the time you need to be an active and willing participant of what you want to manifest.

What I mean by the above is this. You want a job. You have a nifty spell for it. You do your magickal thing, and then you get your magickal self moving. Actually looking for a job, not just expecting a friend is going to call out of the blue to offer one up.

I must add, although it must sound like an oxymoron, magick is work but is also spontaneous. If you have an urgent need to perform magick, and you think you need, but do not have that certain plant that its only found in the wilds of the amazon jungle. Which can be bought only a few times a year, thus you give up in despair because that is not available. Or the moon is not right, or your in-laws are visiting…Stop yourself right there! You have what matters the most. Your own self. Your need to create a change. Wait for the in-laws to go to sleep or go out so you have time alone. If herbs are important to you, improvise with a substitute. If the day is not correct, then look up the best planetary influence and if all that fails, remember something even more important. Your need is urgent, thus an emergency, thus, do what thou will! Imagination, paired up with strong desire and belief in the outcome, that’s what matters.

GoodWitch

Do we ever stop learning? No, the older I get, the more I realize the learning is not done. There are lots of things one can still learn. New ways to materialize the sometimes impossible into this physical world we live in.  We would be doing a disservice to ourselves, if we were to think we know “everything.” There is always something new to learn, something new to absorb and a new way of seeing things, life, ourselves, etc. but this is true for everyone. Witch or not.

Do we put on our “Witch hat” only when its convenient, and necessary? I would say no, but I am talking from my own life experience. I am a witch, is what I am. Day or night, asleep or awake. It is inherent in me. The beauty of it, is blending both my everyday life with my magickal life. Knowing that my life is more harmonious because of it. I bring the best of being a witch into the everyday and I learn from the everyday so that I do not take myself too seriously or think I am above reproach. Ultimately I am a human being, and like everyone else, I am walking this human journey along with everyone.

Magick itself is neither black nor white. Light or dark. Magick as I said is energy. Universal. It is the person that is harnessing said energy that will make of it, what he or she will. It is about personal choices, our own moral compass, and knowing that every action has a reaction.

Although magick is beautiful, mysterious, and other worldly, I know the danger of  every day practice is taking it for granted. We must remind ourselves of that wonder we felt when we first discovered our spiritual journey. The awe, the connection of the divine and ourselves. We must keep it well in our hearts. For this is the core of magick on a personal level. To believe in what we do, and that what we do, creates a change.

It is this wonder, that makes magick special. The belief that anything and everything its possible.

Until I write again,

Autumns Days

Victorian_woman_at_writing_desk-228x221Dear Reader: I hope I find all in good cheer. November is almost gone and today we celebrate Thanksgiving. If you like me; find yourself with a bit of time, while the food is ready and the relatives arrive; then I invite you for a quick read.. go grab a cuppa, sit back and chill for a bit. Enjoy!

PUBLIC HAPPENINGS

Weather has changed to cooler days and colder nights.  Samhain, our beautiful celebration has  passed and here we are, at almost at the end of November. Autumn although late this year, it’s finally felt with is windy days, and preparations for the approaching holidays . Thanksgiving the holiday that marks the onslaught holiday shopping madness, brings for a short while at least, a sort of respite before the rush.

funnyAlthough Thanksgiving is not a celebration that  requires us to spend a lot of money, and is not as much publicized as it predecessor  Halloween or its follower Christmas,  it does require for us to put our “chef” cap and think of ways of cooking a diversity of dishes that are not only enjoyable, but also  money and time savers.  Some, who  might have company during Thanksgiving celebration, have as well to prepare their homes to receive guests (be it family or friends) plus various other activities that are part of the family routine. To keep sane during these last months of the year, we have to strive and find “me” time.  Even if squeezed in the early morning before everyone gets up to start the day or at night, when everyone else has retired for day. It requires a bit of strategy thinking on your part, but it can be done. Think of it as a “must” have time-off for yourself, remember your sanity depends on it, if you are to survive the “holiday” season.

THE MAGIC OF THE SEASON

Yes, we are still in the season of Autumn, no matter what advertisers want to make us think with their “winter-like” backgrounds and stores filled to the brim with Winter items and holiday cheer.

Autumn IS a very magical time of the year. Leaves change color, mornings are filled with a crispy sort of air. Days are starting to grow shorter and shorter and we can enjoy hot drinks in the comfort of home.  It is a time that invites reflections on the past months. Where we are at this point of our lives, what we achieved so far.

If you like taking walks in the park or around your neighborhood, this is a good time to collect acorns, pine cones and dry leaves fallen from near by trees.  I have many things I made when my sons were toddlers and others I made for myself through out the years. For me, it signifies not only shared memories but a bit of Autumn that I got to keep through things I made with the items collected from nature through out the years.3_leaves

I refuse to get into the Yule/Christmas-y sort of mood at this time of year. I want to enjoy Autumn, to be able to appreciate the changes from hot weather to suddenly cold, is like only yesterday I was wearing summer-y, light clothing and today a sweater! (which happens to be true where I live) this is why I cherish these short-lived days. I am a coffee lover and in between I cheat on coffee with my love of tea.. This time of year I can enjoy both, with my morning coffee and afternoon tea time. Baking is as well and important part of my life. My waistline may not appreciate it, but my well-being depends on it! Baking is like therapy to me, and I enjoy this as well during the Autumn days.  Now I can see as well the fruits of my labor on my balcony potted garden. Autumn flowers are in bloom, no longer do they drip listlessly from all that blustery summer sun, now they show their beautiful lush leaves and newly sprung buds or flowers. So dear reader; ask yourself what is not to like about Autumn?

As I am winding down preparing to close this week’s newsletter, I wonder dear reader, where might you find yourself while you read my musings? Are you perchance a traveler of the wide roads, taking a deserved break in a far from home Diner, sitting at a booth, with smart phone or lap computer at hand, while you sip a cup of coffee? Are you a housewife, taking a few minutes respite perhaps in your room,  with your feet up, resting on near-by chair? Are you a single parent, struggling to make ends meet, grateful of a few minutes break? A student or a teacher? Nurse, or nurturer? Whomever you are, and wherever you might find yourself at this moment, I want to say thank you for reading this humble offering, for taking the time to read through it. Perhaps I might leave you with a smile on your face, a thought in your mind. If I have, then my job is done for the moment.  I give thanks for that and for you. I wish you a beautiful Thanksgiving, may it be filled with laughter, good food, good companionship. Whether a dinner of one or many.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Until I write again,

Samhain

Victorian_woman_at_writing_desk-228x221Samhain…

The veil of the world of the living and the ones that have passed beyond it, its thin and their spirits are invited to visit with us. Although many believe the veil opens just a few days before Samhain until the first days of November, the veil is thin since the beginning of the month of October until around the second week of November. Samhain is perfect for divination and it seems as if our minds are more receptive at this time. Receiving messages in dreams, thru vision work and meditation.

It is a good time for reflection. The energies around us vibrate with the power this month seems to bring in its wake. These spiritual forces reminds us of the mysteries of life, death, and our connection to all that lives in this planet. Whether human, animal or nature.various-wiccan-images-paganism-17950593-985-1515

Becoming attuned to our own inner frequency which connects to the ones outside our own, is to connect to the never-ending march of time, to the magic which is all around us. It is a blessing that we must cherish, as we walk the journey of the human soul.

Happy Samhain!

Until I write again,
