Celestial Merry-go-Round

Victorian_woman_at_writing_desk-228x221Dear reader: Welcome to another installment of my weekly newsletter. Next week it’s charged with astrological peril! From a retrograde (Yes, you guessed it..Mercury) to planetary configurations, and solar eclipses. We must harden the intent of keeping as cool as we can, and of course prepare accordingly.

Planets are a funny thing. They do what they want as they see fit. Meanwhile down here on Earth we humans are affected by their energy. Whether on a global scale or a personal one, it does play a bit of havoc on the psyche and life in general.

moderen-metaphysicsTake Mercury for example. How many times have I seen people get stressed out when they realize a retrograde is imminent. Many. Even those who say they do not believe in astrology and/or in anything metaphysical or spiritual etc, are very aware that communications do go awry. Whatever plans are to be put into action, become undone or go really bad indeed. Better put on hold and sit the retrograde through.. in peace. Unfortunately there is no escaping a retrograde. It happens. Its unavoidable. We deal with it. In the best way we can. So we use our smarts and do not begin anything new. Do not (if able) make that trip, do not buy any electronics during this period or get a new car (movement, Mercury). Etc..etc.

knightsfightingAdd to the retro the challenge  which happens between the Sun and two planets, Neptune and Saturn. Not the best of astrological energies when challenging each other. Sun makes things worst, by being its forceful self, and shining all that bright energy onto the taciturn Saturn and the Neptune dreamy energy. Saturn imposes slowness, it does not like to rush. All well and dandy when you want to utilize its energies to make things happen properly so it makes it grow slowly but surely (like investments) but bad really, when square to the Sun. Imagine if you will, two knights of old. Armed to the teeth with all that heavy armor and huge swords, each with its need to be honorable and do the right thing, but stubborn as hell.  Each of them tall and powerful, each maintaining their ground.  The Sun pushes for resolution and Saturn pushes back with its need to wait it out and do things well.  So we get obstacles and things go even slower than usual.

Then Neptune will be in opposition to the Sun..oh dear! Hmm, I see Neptune as another knight, but a female knight.. Yes, she fights if needed, but she would rather find a nice scarf to go with her shining armor suit. She after all is very creative, so every where she goes, she sees possibilities to make it pretty or better if possible, even when is not. So when she is in opposition to the Sun, she sort of dazzles the Sun with her otherworldly beauty while trying to avoid the reality of such power of the Sun. Remember that Neptune  does like to avoid reality and fantasize. She also likes everything of mystery and psychic nature. So while she is trying to convince the Sun to step aside so she can go on her path to… wherever whim might take her, and the Sun trying mightily not to fall to her charm…well we humans get a bit of murky thoughts, forget things, sort of walk in a fog, due to the Sun being engaged otherwise and not helping matters.

argument-cartoonThen when Neptune finally moves away from the Sun, she goes on her merry way to have a square with Saturn..*sigh* This mighty knight is not as easily swayed as the Sun has been. He is a stubborn planet. So they get into an argument. Neptune trying to convince him so and so its true. He almost shouting that she lives in the clouds and needs a dose of reality.  She saying Ay! and he saying Nay! So we humans have conflict. We vacillate in our decisions, we might want to take the easy road, but our minds are telling us that is not the way.

What is a person to do, in the midst of such danger?! OK, I am being melodramatic, and to be honest I poke fun at some things I read about this time being one to lay low…under the radar…What is that? We cannot live our lives hiding from every celestial alignment  and go about our days sayings such things as “We are doomed, doomed! The retrograde nears, hide! avoid…hmm..living your life as normal!”

Yes, dear reader, I know some people are more affected than others by some planet being retrograde and some others are affected by squares and oppositions. But my intent is to bring calm, to an otherwise unstable week ahead. So what must we do? Hmm..

As I mentioned before, prepare accordingly. Do not do things when Mercury is retrograde that go against the energy of the moment. Just take the time, to prepare for when its gone. Reflect on your goals, re-organize. Do not make major decisions that will go awry anyway. By now most are masters at avoiding the “dreaded retro.” Otherwise live life as usual.

As to the opposition and square between Sun, Saturn and Neptune. Do not stress out about something that cannot (I repeat) be avoided. If you find obstacles to your plans in the week ahead (Sun/Saturn) then re-think your strategy, perhaps once you do it, you will realize you can either wait it out or realize maybe is not the best of plans.

If you find yourself being a bit or more forgetful than usual, daydreaming, or distracted in the week ahead (Sun/Neptune), do a mental exercise to bring focus or meditate. Carry grounding stones. Like Hematite or Onyx for example.

Then we still have the conflict between Neptune/Saturn. If you vacillate making a decision, again re-think, change strategy and again…ground and focus.

planetsIn an otherwise everyday routine, one without being aware of the celestial happenings, we do use our logic in times of stress (Hopefully) and re-think our actions and decisions (Ideally). For those of us that perform magickal work, like knights of old, we put on our “spiritual armor” and make sure to protect ourselves in the spiritual. Just in case. Makes sense.

It is true that their influence is felt sometimes more than others. It is also true that it has been happening for many a millennia and it will continue to do so, until we cease to be, and others will inhabit this planet. So perchance dear reader, the best we can do, is to be a bit pragmatic about the whole thing. That may yet be, the best strategy to be able to deal with the natural flow of the Universe.

Until I write again,

Mystery and Magick of Blue

Victorian_woman_at_writing_desk-228x221Dear reader: Welcome to another of my magickal newsletters. I hope everyone has been well and that Summer season has not put a damp in the general enjoyment of life.

I have been thinking on how colors affect not only a single life but a culture. Take blue for example. Blue has been used by many cultures around the world. I am not saying it is only true for modern times, but for centuries before.  From the southern part of Spain to small towns in Mexico, this is a color that has deep roots in folk magic.

blue-and-white-flowers-wallpaperBlue has been used to paint from front doors to window shutters or trims around a house. The use of this color was not only for decoration  but for powerful mystical significance. Blue has been used as a very simple yet powerful form of protective magic against the “evil eye” and negative energies.

If painting a door in blue or trims of the house is out of the question, we can still be creative as to how to incorporate it; in our personal “universe” and the surrounding area like garden, exterior and interior walls.

You don’t have to break the bank to add this power color to your home and your magickal practice. With a little creativity and a focused intention you can make blue part of your life.

For the house there are ways to incorporate the color. From adding blue flowers to the garden, blue ornaments, or blue wind chimes.

door-goal-house-entrance-blue-wood-painting-doorsThe interior perhaps can be done in shades of light blue for a room, or a blue fabric cover for the magickal altar. Blue stones in a container of water placed close to the front door creates a powerful protection charm. Blue curtains in a room, to protect from outside negative frequencies.

Blue is a widespread way of protecting self from negative energy. With its soothing shades it has been used in jewelry as well, for its powerful magical property. One of the most popular and that which springs to mind right away is Turquoise.  In some parts of the world for example, wearing this stone helps in guarding off the evil eye and repels bad luck. it is a powerful magickal stone. You can make small charms, or jewelry set in your favorite medium. If you like to make your own jewelry then you can incorporate blue glass or plastic beads. They will have the same magickal effect as it is the color and the intention that matters, not so much the material.

blue_flower-normal5.4Then we also have protection charms made of fabric and assorted personal choice items that can be carried either in a purse, pocket, backpack, etc! The charm can be sewn around with small blue beads charged for protection for added power. A blue purse, blue comb, blue blankets! and the list goes on, the creative is limitless!

When did the practice of using blue with a mystical significance was started?  It is not  known for certain.  Although it seems that it has its beginnings in the shores of the Mediterranean, I personally think it goes back to Goddess. It makes sense to me that blue is one of her power colors. Blue for her universal power, limitless and mysterious. Like the oceans, lake and rivers,  and the bright blue sky. Her power surrounds us everyday and protect us if we so choose to use it for positive magick. Although that is but one of her colors, it has survived in the collective consciousness  for centuries, enough so that we continue to use it in magick to this very day.

So next time you think about the best color for magickal purposes, call upon the energies of Goddess power through this most mystical of colors..Who knows what awesome things might be realized in the outcome of your goals.GoddessJar (14)

Summer Solstice- Full Moon -A Window for Magick

Full Moon in Sag Summer Solstice-  Sun enters Cancer

Monday 20th – First day of Summer
Full Moon occurred at 4:02 a.m. PST
Moon in Scorpio at 4:55 a.m.

Sun enters Cancer at 3:34 p.m. PST

Victorian_woman_at_writing_desk-228x221Dear Reader: Hello and welcome to this magickal newsletter. The season has turned, the weather is hotter and accordingly we change our gears to go with nature’s flow.

As the Full Moon occurred early for us here in the Western part of the country,  the day found me getting up early and prepping up the Magickal work of the day. If you have been following my blog, you know it is not often I post pictures of my spiritual work. But to adapt to the changes of the season, I thought it befitting to start with some of the things prepared for the day.

Early morning…

IMG_20160620_072757

I have been patiently preparing for this day. Above you see pictured an old metal garden globe I had since many years now. With the creative streak I found myself with in the past weeks, I was inspired to convert my garden globe into a magickal vehicle for prayer, requests and to get in touch with the awesome Goddess energies.

You see it in the “after” phase. Drawing from Goddess symbolism, I used paints in the color that to me represents Goddess.  I added a butterfly on top part of the globe, a bee, a lady bug colored the edge of each star. To empower the work, my Magick Potion oil was blended into the paints, then when all was to my satisfaction, I glazed with a gardening project glaze. I asked family, friends and some of my customers, to add a personal request if they wanted to. Those are the papers you see sticking out.

This is a small corner of my terraced garden. I started out by blessing the petitions, and saying a prayer of intention, for the Goddess to bless and empower each of the personal requests. Because it was early in the day, I was able to calmly conduct the first part of my Solstice Magick. I sat down in front of the Goddess Request globe and for a few minutes connected to the energies of Earth.  Once that was done, I took my globe inside of the home and continued with the second part of the Solstice ritual.

Entrance Altar:

From the Summer Solstice candles I had prepared for my store, I kept a few for this day. I added items in which I am working, my money mojo bags, more petitions that did not fit onto the globe, was placed on the Terracotta dish on which the globe is resting on. Here is where the work got more intense. Due to the heat of the day already in the high digits early morning, all of my windows and doors where open. It felt right, receiving the rays from the Sun surrounded with blessing energies, I enjoyed this part very much. The candles were dancing in their containers, the moment silent, but for the words I was speaking out, in a low voice. It was as if Goddess herself was present, making sure nothing intruded and all went well.

IMG_20160620_081551

Now the Goddess Petition globe is sitting on my Altar, a silent witness of the Magickal work and of the trust and faith of each of the personal petitions. Within 3 days time, those papers, without being opened will be burnt in ritual fire. For the energies to go up into that special place where Goddess and Spirit reside and where Magick begins!

In Magickal work, this Full Moon represents motivation, divine inspiration, our human journey in serving our spiritual evolution. Make use of these powerful energies! They are there for us to access them in the most positive of ways.
Change is all around us, like the seasons change, so must we change and adapt to the flow of Earth.
May your Solstice and the Summer season be one that brings personal growth.

Until I write again,A ladybug
