A Mother’s Love

Dear Reader: Dedicated to all the moms out there..

To be a ‘mom’ does not encompass like many decades ago, only the female gender. Moms are the one’s “bringing up” baby. Motherhood is embraced by anyone who is the responsible adult taking care of children. After all, the very definition of a mother is “To care for and protect someone like a mother.” This post is dedicated to all Mothers, specially to those doing it all on their own.

A badge of honor for those early days, when you barely had any sleep at night. You have to wake up your household, get them ready for school, feed those hungry mouths, get yourself ready somehow in the process of early morning chaos.

A salute to the parent that is in “attention” mode 24/7, always keeping one eye on the computer monitor at work and another on the cell phone, just in cases the school calls, the babysitter or your kid. Kudos for braving a talk to the most feared teacher in school. You know the one..the lady that looks at you above her bifocals and makes you feel as if you are back in 4th grade again, but you march on and tell her your kid cannot possible had lied about losing their homework….

An honorably call, for being not only the caretaker, but also the tutor, the nurse, the driver, the fashion adviser (does my hair look ok mom? should I wear this or the sweater I got for my birthday) the one that soothes fears and boosts self-confidence.  Child: “mom! I’ll never, ever! be as tall as my brothers!…bwah!!!” mother: “shh…calm down love, of course you will! now see here, your legs are long for your age, that’s where you can tell you will be as tall..nay! perhaps even taller than your brothers. Erh..”  *sheepish smile*

For the countless hours spent preparing anything involving a child’s activity, like putting name tags on all the clothing your kid will wear in summer camp, or staying up till well after midnight to help finish up the science project (which really means, your kid is asleep by now and you are the one giving it the ‘final touches’). For the countless rides to friends houses, to the movies, to school games, to the mall, etc.

For soothing hurt egos, rooting for your kids, for being so proud of them, your chest feels like its gonna burst! For all those moments and more.

To all the momsies 🙂 I wish you a fab day enjoying those home-made breakfasts in bed, crumbles on the sheets, huggles from your kids and mainly just chilling on your special day (which truly should be EVERY day!) HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!♥
Until I write again!

Love Thyself

Victorian_woman_at_writing_desk-228x221Dear reader: Hello! and welcome back to another installment of this humble newsletter. I hope to find you well of spirit, mind and body.

The wheel of life has turned again and once more it falls on this, a day to celebrate Love in all of its glory. But Love does not really have a day does it? It is all around us. Every day and every second. Within ourselves. With the people we love and loves us back.

I think that if Love had a requirement, it would ask that everyone starts with loving themselves first. If you think about it, it’s the foundation of how we as human beings correlate to the world at large and the dynamics in each of our relationships, from our significant other, to family and friends.

Loving oneself should not be something taken lightly, but approached and lived with an awareness love-self-300x300that we are sacred beings within. Our souls are special, our bodies the temple which guards it and our spirit the light that binds these two together.

It is not selfish to love oneself. It makes sense that if what we ask of ourselves; compassion, patience, understanding, we end up giving the same to those around us. It is the board from where Love springs into being.

Most importantly is this same Love for self,  that which carries us forward, and make us believe not only in us but in others. It keeps the hope alive. It is the very air that gives wings to our souls which let us soar into the realm of love.

egg-loveLove thyself..and love will follow♥

Until I write again,

Witch’s Gazette-Magickal Newsletter-It is the little things..

72813_floral_w_smDear reader: I hope I find you, all that read my humble blog well of mind and 72794_floral_g_smbody. December has cast its shadow upon us. With it, colder days and the feel of urgency that seems to be attached to this month, whether we want it or not.

It is the collective consciousness making itself present during the holiday season. The expectations are high, and what the collective mind thinks; is manifested in the physical with the hurrying and the idea that we must enjoy the season no matter what!… but alas dear reader! it shouldn’t be so.  I concede that the month does carry a certain magickal feeling. It was after all conceived with the idea of love and harmony among us human beings. The principle is beautiful. It is what has been made of this time of year, that grates on the nerves of many. It is the commercialized idea, that what we gift, must be obtained at a store, or it will be worthless. In reality a well thought out gift made by hand is many times more welcomed that something that was bought in the last minutes of some sale going on. I acknowledge, it is easy to be lost in the excitement of the holiday music that is playing in the stores, the array of goodies on the store’s shelves and the pressure that we give ourselves of buying at least something, so as not to feel as we are loosing out on the season.

The reality of this particular season, hits many with no jobs, and/or no home. Add to that, the dismaying practice of the media in any form, of portraying the season as if it was what we buy that will make us happy, that is no wonder many feel grumpy or depressed during the holidays.

I am not proposing to go and throw away all of the season’s trimmings, and tree! Far from that! To put up the trimmings and the tree and “dress” your home for the holidays, brings a sense of happy.  It does lift the spirit, I do not deny this. When it is done for the one’s you love, the better you feel and the better everyone feels in turn.  It brings a sense of togetherness, and helps people realize their blessings. It helps as well to reflect that what may seem a simple celebration, without the expensive gifts and the big fanfare, might be seen as riches to someone who does not even have a place to call their own.

In the true sense of the season, we look within the family unit or within the self. Realize and give thanks for whatever blessing we have, no matter how small they may seem to others.

free-winter-screensavers-wallpaperI know it is usually with a cheery ‘voice’ that I write my blog. And it has been a couple of months since I last wrote in these virtual pages. I drafted ideas, wrote and re-wrote. Now with the holidays, it would have been easy to by-pass the other side of Christmas/Yule and write something  light and funny. But it did not feel right, nor legit. Not if it did not come from the heart.

I don’t think for a moment that my words will change your worldview just by reading it. What I hope is that it will bring reflection, upon the blessings you have. No matter how small. Even if we know in our sub-conscious mind that this is just another month, it is the collective way we feel about it, that makes the difference.

So dear reader, let’s be merry! and find joy in the small moments, in our small victories. It is after all the small moments, the little things, that are the pieces. And the love we give and receive, that which glues together our human journey.

Until I write again,

Witch’s Gazette – Magickal Newsletter Pub XVIII

Victorian_woman_at_writing_desk-228x221Dear Reader: ‘ello Lovelies! Guess who is back? I am happy to be here, writing this magickal newsletter once more. Weather is warmer, Spring is closer.. and life goes on.

Time of Reckoning..

It seems as if I have been asleep for a long time, and while asleep I had the strangest visions. Sightings of places and beings populated my mind. Strange voices filled my inner ears, and the landscape was sometimes scary but many time wondrous.

The thing with humanity is, this is the state many find themselves living through this journey we call life.  We are walking in a state of sleep. We go through our daily routine. We live with the people we love, visit friends, go to work, pay our bills.  Unless we go out of our comfort zone lets say and visit a very far away country on our own, we mostly live a life we deem safe.

What happens when this safety zone we provide for ourselves is broken? This I like to call a “challenge” phase. One in which you have no power to control the outcome, and you have to relinquish all fears, and old beliefs. You go into a state of inner exploration. Challenging everything you have come to believe up until that point. A moment of realization. Will you be the same person once you come out of that phase? What are you made of? This is a moment of truth.

I recently went through that phase and I had an epiphany.  With that in mind I came back from that challenge. A better person? I hope so. Not out of deed, but out of reflection. This does not mean I believe I am better than any one else. It just means, I went through my own reckoning, guided always by the light and love of She who is the light of my life, my true compass. I feel blessed to be back. Content to be here. I understand that life on this earth plane, as a human being is not something, someone in their rightful mind, will ask to live. But here we are. To strive at balance within the chaos of Earthly life is hard, but not impossible. It is within the chambers of the heart, where we will find the needed strength and peace to continue. The heart points the way. I say to you dear readers, don’t be afraid to open the doorway onto yourself. The journey you will take, is worth it.

Planets and Stars – Changes in the near horizon:moderen-metaphysics

This is a most interesting week dear reader.  Get a hold of your seat!

Celestial happenings that began three years ago, will come to a final resolution. The battle of some of the planets in our galactic corner come to an end, an out of the ordinary eclipse and…are you ready? A chance for a remarkable new beginning for us humble beings on this corner of the galaxy.

Picture if you will, a dark sky. Dotted here and there with death stars, bright starts and several planets. In one far away corner you see Pluto and Uranus, in a battle of wills. This battle began back in 2012. Pluto wanted to bring transformation for us humans. In the form of political readjusting, topography disruptions and financial changes. Uranus bringing opposition made it clear to us that we needed to head into a completely different and new direction. Next month, Uranus will begin to move away from Pluto’s range. This is a declaration that the war between these two planets is over. What does this mean for us mere mortals?

The healing process begins on a grand scale. This week celestial bodies are colliding to bring to us a stunning first day of Spring! On Friday March 20th,  the spring equinox goes hand in hand with that brand new beginning we have in store. There will be a Super moon and a Total Solar Eclipse.  During the eclipse the Super moon will seem larger than the Sun, and will block out all direct sunlight.

Every New Moon is a signal of a new beginning. A chance to turn things around in our favor. With the Solar Eclipse we have an added element in the celestial game. Solar Eclipses can be a spark for all types of changes. Good or bad. On this same day the Sun goes into 0 degrees Aries, which marks the Spring Equinox. The Sun path crosses the equator, so on this day there are almost equal amounts of day and night. A day of cosmic balance. What will you do dear reader on this most auspicious of days? Grab those dreams in handfuls and plant them in the fruitful garden of possibilities that exists in everyone’s life. It is up to us whether our garden is full of weeds or brimming with flowers♥

child of the universe
Child of the Universe. Josephine Wall.

Magic dear reader, is everywhere. From the moment we awaken to the moment we fall asleep. It is energies that belong to the Goddess, flying around everywhere. It is the shiny lovely lights of the fireflies and the beautiful colors on a sunset.  It is music, rhythm, balance. It is the laughter of a child, the light in their eyes when they see something that awakens the spark of wonder in them. It is a hug given to someone you love. It is the embrace of a mother, the comforting hugs of a grandmother, and the sticky kisses your child stamps on your cheek right after they eat that big lollipop.

Magic is made out of moments as well. Intricately woven in the fabric of our lives. It is Her breath, that sends us blessings through the song of the Wind. Her will that gives us confidence through the Fire in us. She grounds us like Earth and soothes our souls when we gaze at the waters of the vast ocean.

Although not visible to many, She nevertheless is there. Waiting, knowing that we when we end this journey, we will head straight to her. Her song is Love and Her heart is home.

There is gladness in my heart dear reader. Now that I am back, to do what I love the most. To share as always what little nugget of wisdom I can offer. I would like to think these words leave a thirst for more. Nothing more is needed. Thank you for being here.

I hope to see you next week! same place, same time!

Until I write again!

Witch’s Gazette Magickal Newsletter – Pub XIV

Victorian_woman_at_writing_desk-228x221Dear Reader:

Greetings on the brand new week. I hope all are doing well and ready to embrace a new chance to draw good things to your life.

We saw last week pass with Mercury going into direct mode again. Things are starting to move. Now we can leave all that “re”- behind. Re-plan, re-organize, re-think things, etc. Goodbye to that and good riddance! It bores my mind to have to hold on to perfectly good plans which I feel it’s such a waste. To wait a certain period of time when a planet is in retrograde, but no matter. A brand new week. A brand new canvas. Blank, waiting for us to fill it with colors, give shape through our inner drawings of things we want to see become solid.

This is actually a very interesting week, in celestial matters. Which as always affect our human life. After the humdrum inactivity of the past week, a change of pace is just what we need to fire up our dreams and lift us out of the blues.

Starting with the New Moon on Wednesday 18th ( 3:47 p.m. PST) is not just any new Moon but it is also a supermoon, or as it called in astronomy a perigean new Moon. This type of Moon (new or full)  coincides with perigee, the closest point to Earth in its orbit.  We have a total of 6 supemoons  for this year alone.  3 new moons – January, February and March and 3 Full Moons – August, September and October.- The closest of which, will be the September 28th which will also be a total lunar eclipse. Physically on Earth this creates higher than usual tides and this in turn increases the risk of flooding.

Soon after the new moon happens, the Sun leaves Aquarius and will move into Pisces for the next four weeks. Then next day on Thursday February 19th we have the Chinese new year. That same day (2/19) Mars moves into its own turf by moving into Aries where it will stay for the next 6 weeks. Venus will also move into Aries on Friday, Feb. 20th. Which makes for an interesting match. Mars the fire warrior and Venus the planet of love. Both combined for a passionate meet-up.

Oracle cards

For this week’s card I used a deck by Ravynne Phelan.

Honor Gaia:

This card’s message is for us to look outside ourselves and look around us. This planet that nourishes our everyday life. We walk upon this Earth. Live off from its fruit. We inhabit every inch of it. We live, love and die on this plane. The never-ending energies and magic of the planet is there for us. It is our duty to guard that which protect us.  To nourish it in return. To make sure that it is not destroyed.

So what dear reader, can we do to ensure that our beautiful planet keeps alive? thinking about it is not enough, deeds are important. It is not only the caring of the physical planet, but the caring for others. We are all connected to this planet. We are connected spiritually to each other as humans. What flows out of Earth, flows into us and out into the Universe. Creating a constant flow of whatever we make of its powerful energy. If we love, then we expel love, if on the contrary we hate and create chaos, then that is the message we are sending to the Universe. All its connected.  It is a cosmos (humans) within a cosmos (Earth) within a larger cosmos (Universe) . To live mind fully in every aspect of our lives, creates harmony. When we care for Earth, and to  mindfully do things for Earth is the same as to do for us and others.

MAGICKAL TIP FOR THE WEEK:ink and butterfly

This week I want to reflect of what the week is bringing to our lives. Since the Card of the Week, is a card about our planet, it makes for the perfect opportunity to think about mindful living. What is that? some might ask, and how do we achieve it?  others might say.

In one of my previous newsletters, I suggested obtaining a personal magickal journal.  Whether is an electronic journal or a paper journal, it can be used to take notes of your week. Just that. Write down your routine during the week. You do not have to write down every little instance (unless you want to).  From writing your morning routine to the last thing you do before you go to sleep.  Don’t change a thing.

By Sunday night, you will read back to yourself how your week went. Reflected through your own accounting.  No matter how tedious this might seem to you. It brings a different perspective when you read what you have done. What in the week, did you do that was mindful? For example, did you visit an elderly relative that lives alone to give company? Did you help someone in any way? Or did you just live a life void of any of that? Do not feel bad. This is only for you. Think of ways in which you can incorporate a mindful way of living. Do not over reach yourself. Do not try be competitive with any one you know who you feel is doing “better” than you. This is only for you.

Mindfulness is moments. Small. Moments that bring a sense of something accomplished. Something that will make you feel good about yourself. Something positive. The challenge lies not on the bigness of the act, but in the purity of intention. Think about it dear reader. At the least, it will bring an added dimension to your life. At the best, it will enrich it. Allowing your frequencies to expand, to vibrate with positive flow and love.

Well dear reader, it is time to put down my virtual pen and sit back and hope that the words written in this magickal blog, will leave something good in your mind. Something to reflect upon. Live your life with love and in the process love your life as if it were the last one on Earth. Make it lovely!

I hope to see you next week! same place, same time!

Until I write again!

Witch’s Gazette Magickal Newsletter – Pub XIII

Victorian_woman_at_writing_desk-228x221Dear Reader:

Welcome to another installment of this, your magickal newsletter. For news that nourish the spirit and sooth the soul.

As the wheel inexorably turns, we find ourselves in the second week of February. In these quiet days of Winter, I find myself going through old journals, trying to organize my closet. While doing so, I find old snippets of writings of mine. Pieces of paper that have been stashed between pages. Doodles, drawings and lists of forgotten things to do. I go through each, reliving some of those thoughts, smiling or plain out loud laughing at others. I trash some and keep others. Amongst this collection of “memorabilia” for lack of a better word, I find old pictures and old birthday cards given to me. Pieces of fabric, that when touched brings up a vivid memory. Old friendships, lived moments. Shared laughter. Which brings me to the subject of the week…

A celebration that has ancient roots. Many think that the celebration stems from the ancient celebration Lupercalia. Some records say is pre-Roman, while others say it is an ancient roman celebration. As far as I could find, Lupercalia was a celebration of cleansing and purifying. It was done from the 13 of February to the 15th. Valentine’s name is another matter entirely,  which somehow became connected to a celebration of Love during this month. Fast forward many centuries later and we find ourselves with a day that celebrates all matters relating to Love in all its glory.  Who knows really when this whimsical day was set in motion? it seems to have collected impetus during the Victorian age, and from then on, it stayed in the collective mind of many cultures. Perhaps dear reader, it is just the human need for something to look forward to. Instead of just having months go by with boring sameness and monotony we have something different each month to look forward to. Or perhaps it is that old time need in our ancestral genes to connect.

Love is everywhere. The love for our partners, our family, our friends, and most importantly for ourselves. For without self-love there is not much we will understand about such mysterious emotion. Must we wait for a special day to show appreciation? I think not.  It is but human to want love. To want to feel connected. To be able to understand the mystery of us, through another soul that perhaps mirrors our yearnings and needs. Are we fools for believing in something not seen but felt? Or do our souls know something that our conscious mind has forgotten? I think the following quote, fits the timeless search for Love in us:

“I heard what you said. I’m not the silly romantic you think. I don’t want the heavens or the shooting stars. I don’t want gemstones or gold. I have those things already. I want…a steady hand. A kind soul. I want to fall asleep, and wake, knowing my heart is safe. I want to love, and be loved.”  Shana Abe

Fortune Teller 081

To take a break from the same old in my newsletter I will be, once in a while blending the CARD OF THE WEEK with the MAGICKAL TIP FOR THE WEEK. To celebrate Love (always!) I am including a sweet little spell. Enjoy!

Draw Love

1 pink candle (a medium or small pillar candle or if you are using votive candles then make it 3 votive candles) Pink= Success, Love, anti-depressant, friendship.

Your favorite perfume

A heart locket (something inexpensive) or representation of the heart from a picture.

Your spell’s petition, letter of intention, etc.

Rose Oil or Olive Oil.

A small fabric sachet. For a love bath.

Cinnamon spice blended with a bit of white sugar, lavender or dried rose petals and a bit of ginger. Cinnamon= passion. Sugar= Sweetening your possibilities. Ginger= Fast action. Rose petals or lavender petals= Love, Luck.

The components of the herbs above can be used in many ways: Incense, bath blend, love powder, as dressing for your candle, etc, etc, etc!

If you are working the above spell on the last days of the waning moon, then the work is to take off blocks you might have in finding love. If you wait until just after the New Moon which will be on February 18th then you draw love towards you. You could lets say, perform the spell on February 20th. Which is Friday, a day of Love. With a combination of Pisces Moon and the energies of the fresh 1st quarter. The possibilities are endless!

Now dear reader, it would be not very kosher of me, to just hand out any old spell! I would like to challenge you to fit the spell and the items to your particular needs. What I wonder, might you come up with these shall we say “raw” materials? Magick is there for the taking, make it yours!

Another installment of this magickal newsletter. A brand new week. Each day a challenge.  Lets make it a week well lived!

I hope to see you next week! same place, same time!

Until I write again!
